Dear Alumni,
We are pleased to share with you that we will be officially opening the CGS Netball and Tennis Courts on Saturday 6 April. The official opening will coincide with our 90th Anniversary celebration the Gala in the Grounds on the evening before on Friday 5 April, and the Sports Gala Day on Saturday 6 April.
We’d like to invite you to attend the official opening of the CGS Netball and Tennis Courts. Mr Stephen Byron (Chair of School Board), Dr Justin Garrick (Head of School), and Mr Ashley Hogan (Head of CGS Tennis) along with other key leadership and sports staff will also be there on the day.
The event programme is as follows:
10:00am – 10:30am: CGS Netball and Tennis in action (players from Junior to Senior School in training mode).
10:30am – 11:00am: CGS community round robin mixer of old and young (a fun tennis activity capped at 48 players across 6 courts) open to players of all abilities. If you’d like to attend this session in particular, please RSVP by replying to Ashley.Hogan@cgs.act.edu.au by Wed 3 April. Ashley will arrange your groupings and notify you by returning your email before 5 April. He will also brief the players before the event.
11:00am – 11:30am: A brief exhibition between two of Canberra’s favourite tennis players, Wally Masur (#15 in the world in the ‘90s) and Alun Jones (took Nadal to 4 sets in 2008 US Open).
11:30am: Official opening of the CGS Netball and Tennis Courts.
11:50am: Refreshments followed by more tennis for those who have old scores to settle or new rivalries to forge.
We hope to see you there.
Kind regards,
Community Development Office
