Phillip, who graduated in 1947, passed away on 5 April 2015 aged 85 years of age.
Phillip had fond memories of his time at CGS, especially his sporting achievements. He loved Rugby Union and following his time and experience at CGS went on to represent NSW and Australia in the sport. He cherished hisĀ CGS trophies that took pride of place at home, which included The Pursehouse Cup and The Old Boys Cup.
Phillip was enrolled at CGS at age 11, along with his twin sisters, who went to nearby CGGS. He made many strong friendships that lasted until his passing.
Phillip worked hard at school and gained a Science degree following his CGS education. He went on to become a supervising analytical chemist in the laboratory at BHP until he retired 40 years later.
On retirement Phillip and his wife Judith purchased a property over the ranges from Newcastle and raised cattle for 17 years before returning to Newcastle to be closer to family.
Phillip will be missed by many of those whom he stayed close with until the end.
