Dear CGS Alumni,
With Term 3 now behind us and the Class of 2020 having ‘marched out’ through the Eastern Archway of the Quad, I thought it would be appropriate to begin updates on the progress of the construction of the CGS Auditorium, centre for music and library.
The demolition of the Breezeway building occurred during the semester break and the progress today represents 10 weeks of excavation. While a massive hole to a 4-meter depth has been dug, the next 8 meters is into rock! It’s interesting to note that 90% of the Breezeway building was able to be recycled.
The Strawberry trees, a Crepe myrtle, and all of the roses from the front of School have now been relocated to a garden bed in front of The Residence (Old Headmaster’s House).A new Memorial Wall has been built on the western side of the Chapel driveway and the plaques from the previous memorial garden yet to be affixed to the wall, along with the repositioned stones. A dedication ceremony will occur next term.
Keep well and take care.
Thank you,
Sandy Goddard
