Dear CGS Alumni,
Amongst all that is going on, I wanted to quickly touch base with the CGS Alumni community to provide you an update from the School.
As a School community, we navigate through uncertain times for the foreseeable future. The School remains open in a limited capacity as per government measures, although we have transitioned both the Primary School and Senior School to remote learning, which is already being successfully delivered to ensure educational continuity. Staff continue to prepare all that is required for this style of learning, and to engage with their students during this unknown length of time.
Within the Alumni Programme, we have unfortunately had to regrettably cancel or postpone most events between now and the end of July, with the remainder events subject to an ongoing review. While this decision is not one that we wanted to make, it is a necessary decision, and our part in contributing to lessening the impact of the current situation.
Reaching out and connecting with former students, colleagues and parents has always been a priority for the Community Development team. I would encourage you to draw upon this network, and the staff in the Community Development Office and wider School, to provide support, if needed, during this challenging time. You can always contact us directly at alumni@cgs.act.edu.au or Georgia, our Community Development Officer, on +61 (2) 6260 97606.
During this ‘downtime’ from our regular community engagement schedule, we will be drawing our focus to data cleansing the addresses of past students to ensure people remain connected, that is, if they wish to retain contact. I encourage you to update your details at CGSALUMNI.ORG.AU
I do hope – in a situation that I know is quite confronting – that you are doing well and managing. Should we continue to draw together (albeit not in person) as a community, though, I know that we can meet the challenges ahead of us.
Take care and I look forward to future occasions and maintaining good and meaningful relationships between you all and the School.
Kind regards,
Sandy Goddard
Director of Community Development
